about

This was a track that I had originally wrote for a solo project that never seen the light of day, when we first formed the band, I knew I was going to bring "Takes Its Toll" to KYNG I just did not know how to bring it to the table; since we had already determined that we were going to be a heavier band. But once I showed the guys the song, it was a no brainer to record it with KYNG.
The lyrics to this song makes more sense to me now than it did when I first wrote it.

lyrics

What are we fighting for
War was waged for nothing at all
Now I must sit in your prison
Of mental distractions and mental distress

Let all the smoke dissipate
Let all your words permeate
So I can turn them away
Because it takes its toll on me
it takes its toll on me

Now Im turning the corner
All my mistakes are pointing their fingers
The things you said to me never kept me afloat
I'm Drawing blood from my arm to keep this thing alive

Well I guess you know its all coming down
Right before I had to whisper I love you
Well you know I guess it comes with the fall
Im falling into your schemes

about

KYNG Los Angeles, California

These days, it's ironic that rock music is as fueled as it is felled by gimmicks. Rare is the band that simply shuts up and shows up to play, sans pretense, without overthinking it and with undeniable soul. the type of impassioned vocals that erupt from the depths of the gut, unforgettable blues-soaked riffs, and pulverizing rhythmic clap. Everything about KYNG is real, nothing more, nothing less. ... more
